Oops, I said it again? Verbal Faux Pas Pt. Deux

When I was younger I had a huge problem with getting my foot stuck in my mouth. It happens to the best of chatterboxes, but my blunders were always getting me in a LOT of trouble! Here are a list of words/phrases that used to give me problems. You be the judge of whether or not I should have been punished or not.

I hated saying the following because for some reason I would always confuse the two:

condominiums (it wasnt the word itself, but the way I said it.. being 6 it was a big word to say so I would always break up big words... but I broke this up into condom and iniums.)

prostate and prostrate
(Prostate is a male organ. And the other is a position during prayer --- Yes, I made this big mistake during Sunday school.)

penniless and penis-less (Both are unfortunate, but one makes a man more less fortunate -- money isnt everything!)

I once was at this MYNA-EZ (Muslim Youth of North America - East Zone)convention talking amongst friends I had recently made. I was all of 13, so be understanding. A girl's name came up who I remembered from the pervious night's conversation as having been branded as being boy-crazy. So after hearing her name again, I mentioned, "Oh, I heard she's really loose and is always hanging around guys." or something like that. The group got really silent, then one girl replies, "That's my sister!"(I gladly accepted both feet in my mouth that day and was surprised at not having her fist in it as well!)

Apparently there's this girl in some city (ahem) in some state (ahem) and her name is Faqia (Im not sure at the spelling) but ask the hellions of Hell-inois how to pronounce it and they'll tell ya: Fuck yeah!

haha.. Im not really laughing. really. Ok I am. I dont know her, yet, so until I do I'll keep this post.

And by Hell-inois I mean no disrespect to my birthstate, it was just a direct attack at Passenger #4 en route from Toronto who made a verbal attack on the state of Pind-sylvania! HOW RUDE!

Yeah yeah, so everyone has verbal faux pas.... but my favorite still remains, "Whats the difference between big and small?" - Verbal Faux Pas Pt 1.

Last night a certain conceited individual had a rather hard time when I told him he was amongst the gentile. So before he jumps to anymore conclusions I shall bring to center stage his faux pas and clear away his confusion.

gen·tile ( P ) Pronunciation Key (jntl)
n. often Gentile
One who is not of the Jewish faith or is of a non-Jewish nation.
A Christian.
Archaic. A pagan or heathen.
Mormon Church. A non-Mormon.

...I came. I saw. I annihilated! Holla atcha girl!

This Is How My Friday Started...

Thats my Sentra trapped by an ambulance. So much for getting in to work early. I just had to snap a picture so I could show my supervisor and the girls at work, not that they didnt believe me, but just to show how most things never go my way.

Breathe (2 AM) - Anna Nalick

2 AM and she calls me 'cause I'm still awake,
"Can you help me unravel my latest mistake?,
I don't love him. Winter just wasn't my season"
Yeah we walk through the doors, so accusing their eyes
Like they have any right at all to criticize,
Hypocrites. You're all here for the very same reason

'Cause you can't jump the track, we're like cars on a cable
And life's like an hourglass, glued to the table
No one can find the rewind button, girl.
So cradle your head in your hands
And breathe... just breathe,
Oh breathe, just breathe

May he turn 21 on the base at Fort Bliss
Just today he sat down to the flask in his fist,
"Ain't been sober, since maybe October of last year."
Here in town you can tell he's been down for a while,
But, my God, it's so beautiful when the boy smiles,
Wanna hold him. Maybe I'll just sing about it.

Cause you can't jump the track, we're like cars on a cable,
And life's like an hourglass, glued to the table.
No one can find the rewind button, boys,
So cradle your head in your hands,
And breathe... just breathe,
Oh breathe, just breathe

There's a light at each end of this tunnel,
You shout 'cause you're just as far in as you'll ever be out
And these mistakes you've made, you'll just make them again
If you only try turning around.

2 AM and I'm still awake, writing a song
If I get it all down on paper, it's no longer inside of me,
Threatening the life it belongs to
And I feel like I'm naked in front of the crowd
Cause these words are my diary, screaming out loud
And I know that you'll use them, however you want to

But you can't jump the track, we're like cars on a cable,
And life's like an hourglass, glued to the table
No one can find the rewind button now
Sing it if you understand.
and breathe, just breathe
woah breathe, just breathe,
Oh breathe, just breathe,
Oh breathe, just breathe.

Rain all weekend and next week?

Mother Nature's on strange brand of crack. Its rained more in the past week than all of April. Im not going anywhere this weekend, so Im glad its going to rain.

...Does this make me a bad person?

How many monkeys does it take to...?

Open head, insert oatmeal. I thought today was going to be a good day. Really. I was wrong. I was wrong and its only 11am. Dammit. I hate being wrong!

Is my glass half-full or half-empty? Uh, what glass? Oh, you mean the one I just had to pee in? Even that had a hole in it!

Reality is when you "wake up" from a nightmare and realize you were never asleep.
Harsh reality is being surrounded by tons of people and still being alone.

Mimi: You stopped taking your medicine didnt you!
(yikes!)

Reminiscing

I was driving back from my parents home late last night and this one radio station was playing "old" songs, or rather rock songs from the 90s. I recognized the tune of this one song immediately and instantaneously I was transported back in time. The song is "Come As You Are" by Nirvana.

Come
As you are
As you were
As I want you to be
As a friend
As a friend
As a known memory
Take your time
Hurry up
The choice is your
Dont’ be late
Take a rest
As a friend
As a known memory
Memory
Memory
Memory

Come
Doused in mud
Cept in bleach
As I want you to be
As a trend
A a friend
As a known memory
Memory
Memory
Memory

Several thoughts ran through my head all at once. Youth, innocence, the life ahead, we had it all! Why were we so eager to grow up? I live in a very small suburban town and a lot has changed over the past ten years since we graduated from high school, but somehow some stuff still managed to stay the same. I suppose I feel this way only at the eve of upcoming milestones in my life. My life is about to change drastically. I suppose reflection is a good thing. I am open to change, but it saddens me still.

Got RC Cola?

One night, 11:30pm-ish, Im sitting in my apartment and I get this intense craving for soda. NOT just any soda, but RC Cola soda. RC COLA? I havent had RC Cola since, what?, '86? Pouring rain outside, in my comfy pants and adidas slippers, (who do I know 'round here anyway???)Im out looking for soda that no one carries anymore. Why I couldnt just 'Wanna Fanta' is beyond me!

Finally, I find a store that carries it at almost 1am in the morning and I dont even want the soda at this point. Of course I feel I have to explain my appearance to the cashier and bagger and oddly enough, to my disbelief and amazement, they were both hitting on me.

I suppose even in my grungiest, MUST-HAVE-RC-COLA state of mind, I'm still good looking.

<3

When the world is darker than I can understand.
When nothing turns out the way I planned.
When the sky turns grey and there's no end in sight.
When I can't sleep through the lonely night.
I turn to you.
Like a flower leaning toward the sun.
I turn to you.
'Cos you're the only one.
Who can turn me around when I'm upside down.
I turn to you.

When my insides are wracked with anxiety.
You have the touch that will quiet me.
You lift my spirit.
You melt the ice.
When I need inspiration, when I need advice.
I turn to you.
Like a flower leaning toward the sun.
I turn to you.
'Cos you're the only one.
Who can turn me around when I'm upside down.
I turn to you.

Where would I be?
What would I do?
If you'd never helped me through.
I hope someday if you've lost your way.
You could turn to me like I turn to you.

Walk Away - Kelly Clarkson

"I wanna love
I want a fire
To feel the burn
My desires
I wanna man by my side
Not a boy who runs and hides
Are you gonna fight for me?
Die for me?
Live and breathe for me?
Do you care for me?
'Cause if you don't then just leave!"

...well put!

"Just Reconsider"

I know there's something in the wake of your smile
I get a notion from the look in your eyes, yeah
You've built a love, but that love falls apart
Your little piece of heaven turns to dark

Listen to your heart
When he's calling for you
Listen to your heart
There's nothing else you can do
I don't know where you're going
And I don't know why
But listen to your heart
Before you tell him goodbye

Sometimes you wonder if this fight is worthwhile
The precious moments are all lost in the tide yeah
They're swept away and nothing is what it seems
The feeling of belonging to your dreams

Listen to your heart
When he's calling for you
Listen to your heart
There's nothing else you can do
I don't know where you're going
And I don't know why
But listen to your heart
Before you tell him goodbye

And there are voices that want to be heard
So much to mention but you can't find the words
The scent of magic, the beauty that's been
When love was wilder than the wind

Listen to your heart (take a listen to it)
When he's calling for you
Listen to your heart (take a listen to it)
There's nothing else you can do
I don't know where you're going
And I don't know why
But listen to your heart
Before...you tell him goodbye

-Roxette

CHICAGO!!!!

Where it all started, back in '79.

My Elementary School

Lake Geneva - Wisconsin, where we spent a lot of vacations. They used to have these boat shows that were pretty cool. I don't remember it, exactly, but I've seen tons of pictures.

The next few pictures are of Chicago's Skyline, really neat pictures. Can't wait to go back and visit.
