Plan B

http://www.dictionary.com/ reports the definition of plan B as: a secondary plan of action in the event that changes would make the primary plan unsuccessful.

I'd like to define Plan B as Allah (swt)'s Casino: the House always wins. Plan B is not what we choose, its what we learn to accept. We get caught up in this life and everything that sparkles in it. We forget that ultimately we are not in control of our destiny. You get a point in your life where you really feel like what you think, what you say, and how you feel is enough to dictate your own story's end. That's comic relief for our book of life, irony, if you will. We don't know why things happen the way they do; only Allah(swt) knows.

Allah (swt) and the Angel of Death in an AIM conversation:

UCaNtHiDe: Who's on the agenda this week? Baba Ali Jameel Agha?
IamGod: Baba Ali Jameel Agha?? No, no. Not yet. He's studying for his medical board exam. He tells me he wants to score high marks to get residency in LA, become a board certified plastic surgeon, marry a supermodel and have lots of children.
UCaNtHiDe: ROFL!! What a loser!
IamGod: I am sending him to Kentucky. He's got to become a certified hemepathologist and diagnose his own child's leukemia ahead of time, ensuring his child's 100% recovery.
UCaNtHiDe: Good plan. I bet he wont see this coming, but he'll be happy one day, in the end, praising you for sending him to Kentucky in the first place!
IamGod: Thats how I roll. I'm slick like dat. This is why, this is why, this is why Im God!
UCaNtHiDe: You da man! uh, I mean SUPREME Bein'
IamGod: Bow down playa!

Why must Plan B carry such a negative stigma? What is it about Plan B that scares us? That we're not ready for it? That it will make us miserable? If we don't carry an agenda, can we ever miss out on anything? If we dont have a plan, are we ever late? A friend said something very interesting to me last night and it makes complete sense: Dont go looking for something; just take it as it comes to you.

When we're shopping with absolutely no intention of buying something is the only time we find the best deals. But is it because the deal is truly too good to pass up? Or is it because we had no prejudices or preferences on our part and so we have no other expectations for the item to live up to, or not live up to? If we go into a mall with the intention of buying something only if its on sale, each place we go to has something better, a different deal and we cant make up our minds. We get sidetracked and confused and, in the end, frustrated. We leave the mall with something we didnt want in a freak hurry to get out of there immediately, or we end up taking too much time deciding that the sale ends!

("...humein zinda rehne do ay husn-walon!")

But can we really go through life with no aspirations or expectations, just waiting for something to jump out at us? Thats not realistic. Pessimism is not the answer. Everything in life demands balance, and this, planning business, is a balance we must strive to achieve: wanting something, but accepting what we end up with. I agree, one should never seal the deal on a first offer, because thats just a platform to start negotiations. The manner in which we bargain with Allah (swt) is not to one-up Him, but perhaps a sincere effort on our parts to show we are truly worthy will not go unnoticed?

If we remain optimistic and open-minded, then whatever Allah (swt) has written will not be too jagged of a pill to swallow, iA. Plan B is not really second best, but simply better than the rest.

Its something i always wanted to say but could never put into words. Very well spelled out.

Here's something i read, and want to share as well. Its copyrighted so i'll change it into my own words;

'You have made me infinite O Lord,
This vessel you empty again and again,
And fill it ever with fresh hope,
Ages pass, thou pourest,
And still there is room to fill.'

May you always retain such faith in the Supreme Deity.

Plan A didn't work out because Allah (swt) willed for it not to.

Plan B is the mindset we need...but with a different approach

Plan A is me saying, "I think I know what I want."

If Plan A doesn't work out, then Alhamdulillah Plan B is a blessing from Allah (swt): "What I thought I wanted was wrong, and Allah (swt) has chosen something better for me."

We may or may not understand why (more than likely won't), but have to remember that everything in life happens for a reason, and Allah (swt) has already scripted it for us.

Nonetheless, we still should retain our passions and be ambitious in everything we do. We just need to remember that effort is put forth by us (with Allah SWT's help), but the results are entirely out of our hands.
